Major Gifts Officer, Parent Philanthropy

Florida Institute of Technology is currently searching for a Major Gifts Officer, Parent Philanthropy for the Office of Development.  This is a full-time position. 

The Major Gifts Officer for Parent Philanthropy is responsible for the qualification, cultivation and solicitation of major gifts from current and former parents and families. The candidate will manage a portfolio of approximately 100 individuals capable of supporting the University with gifts of $25,000 or more. Work with prospects will include facilitating communications and strategy development with faculty, staff and volunteer leaders and will involve significant travel. The major gifts officer will also manage a Parent Leadership Council, an advisory board of parents and will oversee broader parent annual giving. The candidate will be expected to understand higher education philanthropy and preferably have experience with prospect databases and moves management systems.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identify 30 new prospects per year and secure visit to engage potential major donors in the mission of Florida Institute of Technology. Recruit 15 to the Parent Leadership Council
  • Develop and implement a donor-centered and mission-centered cultivation and stewardship strategy for each individual in the portfolio (100+ individuals). Record all activities in Raiser's Edge and meet annual moves goals
  • Plan solicitation schedule and solicit gifts toward individual and team fundraising goals. Draft gift agreements, instruments, case statements, letters and other documents as needed
  • Organize, plan and implement 3 Parent's Leadership Council meetings per year, one of which may be conducted online. Organize other appropriate communications activities for parents
  • Work with annual giving team to conduct annual giving appeals in coordination with direct mail, phonathons, and orientation

 

Education/Skills required:

  • Bachelors degree
  • 5 years of related experience in area of expertise
  • Valid drivers license
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of computer office applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of Raiser's Edge is preferred

* Official transcript of all collegiate work must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment.
